An artichoke is like a botanical sculpture, standing firmly upright on its stalk with
overlapping bracts in a compact geometry, crowned with a purple plume – as depicted in detail on this Artichoke 1/2 Pint Mug. They decided to create three mugs in homage to the talented botanical illustrators of the 18th and 19th centuries: the ""golden age"" of botanical illustration. The drawings served as scientific documentation and artistic appreciation, showcasing the beauty and intricacy of the subject matter.
As well as an artichoke, they have other tea and coffee mugs that celebrate such a traditional means of illustration: Pineapple and Tulip.
All pottery is handcrafted and hand decorated in the factory in Stoke on Trent, England.
